According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the quake hit at 4:54 p.m. near Fontana and Rialto in San Bernardino County, at a shallow depth of about 3.6 miles.

Shaking was widely felt in Fontana, Rialto, San Bernardino, Riverside, Rancho Cucamonga, and Ontario, with reports also coming from parts of Los Angeles, Orange County, and the High Desert.

No injuries or major damage have been reported so far, but residents described a sharp jolt followed by brief shaking.

This quake comes just days after several smaller tremors in the same area, part of what seismologists call the Fontana seismic trend — a zone known for clusters of small to moderate earthquakes.

Experts say this event is considered minor, but it’s another reminder for Californians to stay prepared with an emergency kit and an earthquake safety plan.
